ALFRED, NY – Junior kicker and punter, Trevor Monk (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) has been selected as the Empire 8 Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
 
In an announcement from Associate Commissioner, Janelle Zera, Monk was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of August 29-September 4.
 
Monk made all five extra point tries in Alfred's 35-28 season-opening win over Husson University, extending his streak of consecutive PATs made to 36. In his first game punting for Alfred, Monk averaged 40 yards per punt on seven punts, landing two inside the opponents' 20 and hitting a long punt of 56 yards. He also averaged 54.3 yards per kickoff on six kicks.
 
Monk and the Saxons will next travel to Troy, NY to take on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, September 10 at noon in non-conference action.
